NASUWT Reps Introductory Course (Part 1) Day 1: 11/05/2021 Time: 18:00 - 20:00 Day 2: 18/05/2021 Time: 18:00 - 20:00 This is a half day (approximately 4 hours) introductory course for new NASUWT Workplace Reps and Contacts. It can also take place over two twilight sessions so please check the timings for the course you wish to attend. The course will also be useful for anyone interested in taking on a Representative role in the workplace but is unclear about the role and duties involved. The course will cover a range of topics, that will enable School and College Reps and Contacts, to get started and begin communicating and organising with NASUWT members in their workplace. The content will include: - The role of the Workplace Rep and Contact - The structure of the NASUWT - Communication skills - Lines of support within the Union - It will provide practical solutions and advice on how to manage and deal with common problems, that arise in the workplace. The course will also be useful for existing Reps who would like to update / refresh their knowledge. This is a half day course that will be delivered via Zoom. NASUWT Reps Introductory Course (Part 2) 12/05/2021 Time: 18:00 - 21:00 This three-hour course builds on existing knowledge covered in Part 1. On completion of stages 1 & 2 of this New Reps Intro Course, attendees will be accredited as NASUWT Workplace Reps. This is an online course, delivered via Zoom. Discrimination Course 13/05/2021 Time: 09:30 - 13:30 Discrimination course for lay caseworkers. This one-day course will equip caseworkers with practical skills and knowledge for identifying and tackling discrimination cases. The course will cover the Union's legal avenue for addressing discrimination casework as well as an overview of discrimination law and how this should be applied in practice. It includes practical case studies on identifying the different strands of discrimination and the prohibited conduct to be applied in each case. This is a course for members who want to become accredited NASUWT caseworkers and have already completed Workplace Reps 1 and 2 (or NASUWT equivalent courses) and Casework 3, or are about to complete Casework 3. This is an online course, delivered via Zoom. Mental Health First Aid - Half Day Adult 14/05/2021 Time: 10:00 - 14:00 This is a four-hour introductory mental health awareness course that will help equip you in this area. This course raises awareness of mental health. It covers: What mental health is and how to challenge stigma A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue This course is suitable for all members as they qualify as MENTAL HEALTH AWARE. This is an online course, delivered via Zoom. Health and Safety - An Introduction 18/05/2021 Time: 14:00 - 17:00 This course is open to members who: Were booked onto a H&S 1 course before lockdown Have become a H&S Rep or contact during lockdown Are an existing H&S Rep wanting additional training during this time Are Workplace Reps and want more H&S knowledge at this time The course is divided into three sections and will cover: H&S legal frameworks Risk Assessments - A how to guide Covid 19 and the new normal This course is 3 hours long will be delivered via Zoom.
